Information about the plans for this site (a preview)

My aim is to provide a guided narrrative exploration of the history and social context of clinical neuropsychology by using the metaphor of canaries in the coalmine. Maybe as a published paper but more importantly, I want an online interactive record that is perhaps less dry than an article.

Each chapter will focus on one person and include the story of why we should care about them in the context of our field, contradictions in their thinking or ways they evolved over time, and narrative moments (mostly based around publications by those individuals). While there are chapters focused on people who were the sources of harm - mostly I want to centre those who worked within the field who had marginalised identities and pointed out the flaws and oversights of those who, sadly, dominated the mainstream narrative of what was regarded as evidence-based knowledge in our field.The chapters list on the left will also flag those who were largely sources of harm (so that you can skip those if you need to).

You will be able to move through the chapters in sequence using the previous or next controls (below) and can navigate out of sequence using the chapter list (left hand side below).

Reflections

This section is where I will put the 'discussion', but really - trying to tie together the history and information into a story (imbued with my reflexivity practice) to make sense of this history and seek out what it can tell us about the current world of clinical practice and research in neuropsychology. It will be coloured by my positionality and I'll aim to show that in a practical way!
